Apologies for the somewhat low quality picture….
Before you judge the fact that it’s an anchor, let me say I got it before I had any idea it was apparently a pretty popular design… And I got it because my family is big on sailing (although now I rather wish I had gone all out and just gotten a giant ship, from a different artist, but of course being my first tattoo i didn’t want one that big. Adding a ship on would just be ridiculous, too much boat theme and I think this would be impossible to cover up with one).
Could you critique it? Is it fixable? The lines around it were done without my knowledge and I was pretty upset he didn’t run it by me first. I know some of the lines are pretty screwed up. Also is there anything you think I could add to it? I’m stuck feeling like the only idea is waves, maybe turning up into flowers or something around in the background to cover up the weird lines…
The main issue you have with any repair work is the fact that it is so bold. Adding more black to even it out could make it worse. The tattooist should have asked before doing the weird shaded background, but a couple of flowers would cover it up.
My best advice would be laser removal as black is pretty easy to get out. Once it is lasered down enough you will be able to have a pretty cool ship over the top. It will take a while and cost a fair bit but in a few years you will be glad you did it
